Some of you may have noticed some changes recently at Pumkin and we think that now is a good time to explain everything that we are doing.
Pumkin – Our Background
As some of you may already know, we’ve been helping kids learn languages for many years now. Our company was founded by a group of language learning professionals who were all teaching English as a second language to young learners.
Having used a variety of teaching materials, we decided to create our own, with the emphasis on FUN. This lead to us opening our first language school, named Pumkin, in 2000.
In 2001, we created Pumkin Online English, an online English language course for kids across the world to enjoy. Twelve years later and Pumkin Online English is still going strong and we will continue to support this product for the foreseeable future.
In 2010, as online education went mobile, we took our expertise and enthusiasm to create language learning apps. The first of these was Fun English, which has been an amazing success for us. More than 1,000,000 parents and kids across the world have downloaded our app.
Our Future
We’ve always been aware of the balancing act required to make products which satisfy both parents and children. With our language learning apps, we think we have found the right blend of education and entertainment.
As a result of the success of Fun English and the positive feedback from users, we’ve decided that our main focus should be the development of new language learning apps for kids.
The first of these is Fun Chinese, which is currently available as a free download for iPad, iPhone and iPod users. We also have some other exciting language learning apps in development which will launch very soon.
Studycat – Our New Name
With all of the above in mind, we also felt that our brand needed to be updated to reflect our future. We feel that Studycat, our new name, projects the educational yet entertaining nature of our apps for kids. It fits our ethos that learning is fun.[hr]
