Learning Mandarin Gets Cheaper As The App Store Features Fun Chinese

Fun Chinese featured by Apple.HONG KONG, March 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Fun Chinese, a multi-faceted language-learning app from the specialist educational developers at Studycat, is now being featured in the curated ‘Fun Learning’ section of Apple’s App Store. Between March 25 and April 4, Fun Chinese will be reduced in price by 50% when purchased through the App Store in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.

Fun Chinese, which has an App Store user rating of 4.6 out of 5, comprises five lessons with 30 different educational games teaching Mandarin words and sentence patterns. The first lesson, which includes several learning activities, is available as a free download, and additional lessons are available to purchase.

Utilizing Studycat’s highly popular play-based instruction methods, the app introduces basic vocabulary, grammar, and character recognition in a variety of original games. Some test recognition and thinking skills, others allow you to record your voice and refine your pronunciation. The app can teach both traditional and simplified Chinese characters.

“The number of people learning Mandarin Chinese has exploded in recent years, and so has the number of Chinese-teaching apps. Therefore we’re delighted to have caught the attention of the App Store in their search for high quality and fun educational products,” says Studycat CEO Mateo Solares.

“Back in 2012 we decided to leverage Studycat’s strengths, as well as our geographical advantage, and produce a winning app that can help people, wherever they are, pick up and practice basic Mandarin. We’re a Hong Kong company, and every non-Chinese team member has studied Mandarin. We’ve drawn on our experiences to devise effective yet engaging learning activities,” he explains.

“We feel being chosen is recognition of the quality and innovative structure of our product,” says Solares.

“Fun Chinese was designed with 3- to 10-year-olds in mind, yet feedback shows the lessons are also much enjoyed by adults learning independently, or alongside their children,” he adds.

This offer, which lasts just 11 days, reduces the price of all 5 Fun Chinese lessons from 38HKD to 15HKD in Hong Kong and 150NT to 60NT in Taiwan.
